LFT-8 Woofer Update

The LFT-8 update adds a powered dipole woofer with DSP and the ability to smooth the low frequency response of the speaker in any listening room, time aligned the woofer with the midrange/tweeter, and improve the blend between the midrange/tweeter assembly with the new woofers.

LFT-8, 8a, 8b, LFT-3, and LFT-6 Capacitor update

This upgrade is especially beneficial for the longevity of speakers greater than 10 years old. The year of manufacture can be found in the first 3 or 5 digits of the serial number.

The kit includes the upgraded higher precision capacitors, and caulk to adhere the capacitors to the internal mounting brace and seal the woofer, hardware for the woofer, and a putty knife for removal of the woofer.

You will need an electric screwdriver or drill with a phillips bit, and the ability to solder and either remove the entire crossover as an assembly, or install the parts in place through the woofer opening. You will also need a soldering iron and the ability to solder.

The capacitor update is included when you purchase the LFT-8 Woofer Update.

LFT-8 Tweeter Update

Eminent Technology is now offering a tweeter update for all versions of the LFT-8 series loudspeaker.

With the addition of the new tweeter, the LFT-8 is now designated the LFT-8b. Any previous LFT-8 can be updated to the “b” production version by the additon of the new tweeter.

The new tweeter incorporates neodimium magnets and extends the frequency response of the LFT-8 to 50Khz.

The tweeter upgrade includes three level settings and does not require removal of the woofer or any internal changes to the LFT-8's crossover. No soldering is required.

Price of the tweeter-only upgrade is $500.00 which includes the tweeter, wiring and level module.

LFT-8 Midrange Panel/Woofer replacement

Eminent Technology now offers an upgrade package for all LFT-8 owners, providing updated woofers and revised crossover components compatible with every earlier version of the LFT-VIII.

The new woofer design features a longer voice coil, increased excursion (x-max), and a thicker magnet assembly with an embossed back plate and a vented pole piece. These changes improve power handling, reduce lower-midrange distortion, enhance imaging, and create a smoother, more seamless transition between the woofer and the midrange panel.

Updated crossover components further refine performance by increasing the tweeter’s output internally and smoothing the midrange response. Each kit includes all required parts along with installation instructions.

The woofer upgrade is priced at $200, and the midrange crossover upgrade is $150. Installation can be performed either by the owner or by an authorized dealer.

LFT-12 Center Channel Loudspeaker Upgrade

Eminent Technology now offers an upgrade package for the LFT-12 Center Channel Loudpeaker. This package will upgrade any early LFT-12 to the current production model. This upgrade is applicable to all LFT-12 manufactured prior to February 2002.

The magnet structure has been improved with the use of Neodymium Magnets to increase efficiency and increase low frequency output. A redesigned crossover network compensates for the added output and gives an improved frequency response over the original LFT-12 design. With the upgrade, low frequency response was improved to enable accurate reproduction of audio information from 20kHz to 70Hz + 3dB.

Due to the high intensity magnetic fields involved, this upgrade can only be performed at the Eminent Technology factory. An updated print copy of the LFT-12 Owner's Manual will be included with the upgrade.

ET-2 Heavy Magnesium Arm Tube

Eminent Technology is now manufacturing a new heavy wall version of the magnesium arm tube For the ET-2 or ET-2.5 Tonearms. The new arm tube is especially designed for very low compliance ( 20 X 10-6 dynes/cm2 ) cartridges which are characteristic of the latest versions of moving coil cartridges.

We have observed that the most recent moving coil cartridges had extremely low compliance and strong forcing functions. In order to optimize an arm tube for the latest cartridges the new heavy version has over twice the wall thickness of the current magnesium arm tube to reduce the resonance levels in the arm tube to the lowest levels possible.

The cost for the Heavy version of the Magnesium arm tube is $200.00. We are also developing a very high pressure bearing for the ET 2.5 which will operate between 20 and 80 psi.
